Washington, MO – The Department of Homeland security says the St. Louis and Kansas City areas will share $24 million in federal money, aimed at improving efforts to prepare for and respond to terrorism.

It's part of this fiscal year's $725 million budget for urban security. St. Louis got almost $10 million last fiscal year.

The areas receiving money are based on such factors as infrastructure, population density and threat intelligence information.

The Kansas City area got $9.7 million dollars under the program last year.
