Washington, DC – Missouri Republican Kit Bond has indicated he will run for a fourth term to the U.S. Senate.
At a news conference Thursday, he said he's not planning on retirement. The 64-year old senior Senator from Missouri faces reelection next year but hasn't actively started campaigning. In 1998, he defeated Attorney General Jay Nixon with 53% of the vote. No Democrat has yet indicated an interest in challenging Bond this time.
Democrats, though, do say he's vulnerable based on their own polls that show
support for another term at 41 percent.
But Bond says if people believed Democrats' polls, Jean Carnahan would be his U.S. Senate comrade and Democrats would control the Missouri Legislature.
Bond is also a former Governor of Missouri.
