"Making Their Mark" brings together over eighty works by an intergenerational and international group of women artists represented in the San Francisco Bay Area–based Shah Garg Collection. Featuring a wide spectrum of artworks—including painting, sculpture, installation, textile, beadwork, and ceramics from the past eight decades—the exhibition emphasizes dialogues between artists who circumvent and break through conventions in art-making, embracing craft techniques, new technologies, conceptual inquiries, inventive methods, and uncommon materials. Artists in the exhibition include Andrea Bowers, Suzanne Jackson, Julie Mehretu, Howardina Pindell, Joan Mitchell, Lorna Simpson, Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, Sarah Sze, Kay WalkingStick, and Mary Weatherford, among many others.
We are bringing together the Black community in and around College Hill who have been disproportionately impacted by the 5/16 tornado and are facing a crisis regarding conditions of life. We don't need charity, we need reparations and solidarity with self-determination for our community.

Join us at Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum on Veterans Day (Tuesday, November 11) from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. for our special Medal of Honor walking tour. During this two-hour walking tour, you will visit the graves of the 10 Medal of Honor recipients laid to rest at Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum. While on this walk, each of the 10 will have their American and Medal of Honor flags refreshed. At each grave, their accomplishments will be read aloud from the submissions made to secure their accommodation. Attendees will carry flags to each burial location and be part of honoring these 10 heroes of our country.

We will tour and at the midpoint, break for 15 minutes before completing the tour.

Summer Arboretum Trolley Tour
Join one of our Horticulturists for a two-hour trolley tour exploring Missouri’s first ArbNet Level III Accredited Arboretum. This tour will focus on the fantastic fall color shows of Bellefontaine’s collection of about 10,000 trees and shrubs, representing nearly 600 distinct species, selections, and varieties. From golden gingkoes to majestic crimson maples, the Arboretum is aglow with fall colors.

Trolley tour tickets are free with a suggested donation of $5 each. You may also make a donation at the event. Your donations allow us to cover trolley expenses. Proceeds support the Friends of Bellefontaine and benefit the Cemetery’s community support programs like Angels Rest, historic preservation, and educational tours.
This trolley tour is from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.♦ Seating is limited and tickets are required.♦ We ask that everyone arrive 15 minutes early for a prompt departure.♦ The Trolley is climate controlled but weather-appropriate clothing is suggested as opportunities to disembark from the vehicle are available.
