Did you catch our St. Louis Symphony broadcast on March 31? Well, whether you did, or didn't, we have a few fascinating interviews for you from behind the scenes of that performance of Bach's Mass in B Minor.

David Robertson and the St. Louis Symphony were joined by the St. Louis Symphony Chorus as well as soprano Susanna Phillips, mezzo-soprano Kate Lindsey, tenor Nicholas Phan, and baritone Stephen Powell in Bach's work in concerts March 31 and April 1 in Powell Hall.

Following a rehearsal on March 30, the Symphony's Eddie Silva spoke with Phillips. Besides giving her take on the Bach masterpiece, Phillips also explained how she came to be featured in the March issue of Vogue Magazine:

During the intermission of our live broadcast of the March 31 concert, our Robert Peterson spoke with music director Robertson about performing Bach's Mass in B Minor and his choice of soloists:

Peterson also spoke with St. Louis Post-Dispatch classical music critic Sarah Bryan Miller about the significance of the Bach work as well as her thoughts on being a critic and her experience as a singer:

Mary Edwards came to St. Louis Public Radio in 1974, just after finishing her Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She has served the station in a number of capacities over the years. From 1988-2014 she also taught an undergraduate class in radio production at Webster University. Mary was inducted into the St. Louis Media History Foundation Media Hall of Fame in April, 2017 and received the Gateway Media Literacy Partners' Charles Klotzer Media Literacy Award in 2012. Mary retired from St. Louis Public Radio in 2018, but still serves the station as a St. Louis Symphony Producer.
