Two 18-year-olds are in custody and are expected to be charged Friday with the murder of a former St. Louis University volleyball player.

Twenty-three year Megan Boken was shot and killed Saturday afternoon while sitting in her car in the Central West End.

St. Louis Police Chief Dan Isom says robbery was the motive.

The crime attracted a lot of attention, especially because it occurred in broad daylight in a busy neighborhood.

Mayor Francis Slay expressed his sympathy to the Boken family and said making St. Louis safer is a priority.

"We are resolved, long-term and in the future, and have been for quite some time, we are resolved, working together city government, the police department, the community to make our neighborhoods, every one of them safe," Slay said.

Police did not release any details about the suspects.

Boken’s funeral was held in Wheaton, Ill. earlier Thursday.
