Former organist charged with forgery, theft against Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis

A former organist at Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis has been charged with federal theft and forgery in relation to the St. Louis Cathedral Choir.

According to a probable cause statement provided by the St. Louis Circuit Attorney's office on its website, Maximilian Tenney, 33, is charged with the following:

  • One count of theft/stealing (value Of Property Or Services Is $25,000 Or More) (Class B Felony)
  • 15 counts of forgery, which, according to the Circuit Attorney's office, included forging checks totaling over $36,000 from the St. Louis Cathedral Choir.

A Sept. 19 bulletin says that Tenney was recently hired as the new musical director at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Alexandria, La.
