Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn has signed legislation redrawing the state legislative districts.
Quinn signed the bill Friday approving a redistricting map that will make life tougher for Illinois Republicans over the next 10 years.
Democrats were in charge of the once-a-decade process because they control the legislature and the governor's office.
The map lumps some Republicans together in new legislative districts and makes other areas more friendly to Democrats.
Republicans have complained about how the map was drawn and blasted Democrats for rushing to approve the map before adjourning their spring session earlier this week. Democrats have insisted the maps are fair.
