COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri Board of Curators' Bo Fraser is stepping down two years before his term ends.
The Columbia curator said he's been spending more time in Florida, which has made it more difficult to devote attention to the board and campus.
Fraser acknowledged that the Board of Curators is a complex organization, and hopes his appointed replacement can be brought up to speed quickly.
"I hope the governor can find someone with the familiarity with the university so they can be productive early in that two year window, and not just be learning about the university at the time that term ends," Fraser said.
The governor will now have four seats on the Board of Curators to fill.
John Carnahan, Doug Russell and David Wasinger all have terms expiring in January. Board members can serve up to six years. Only five of the nine curators can belong to the same political party.
