St. Louis, MO. – A group of St. Louis University students is working to get a polling place on campus for November's election.
The closest spot where students at St. Louis University now can vote is about a mile and a half away.
Lauren Khouri founded the non-partisan group SLU Students for Voters Rights.
"A lot of universities across the country have polling places on their campus because they're trying to make it as easy as possible to vote," Khouri said. "And for us that's the most important thing in this election."
Nearly 800 St. Louis University students are registered to vote but just 55 did so in the February primary.
Khouri says she hopes a more convenient polling place and a get-out-the-vote effort will change that.
A St. Louis Board of Elections official says their office is working with the students.
