Granite City, Ill. – More charges are likely for a man suspected in a two-state crime spree that left eight people dead.
Nicholas Sheley, 28, of Sterling, Ill. was arrested Tuesday evening outside a Granite City bar.
A bartender and customers at Bindy's Bar alerted authorities after seeing Sheley's mugshot on television, and police apprehended the suspect immediately.
Authorities charged Sheley with the deaths of two men in Sterling and Galesburg, Ill. He is also suspected in the deaths of Thomas and Jill Estes, an Arkansas couple who were visiting Festus, Mo.
Meanwhile, authorities in northern Illinois have released the identities of the victims found dead in a Rock Falls, Ill. apartment.
The Whiteside County coroner says they were Kilynna Blake, 20, and two-year-old Dayan Blake. Both were from Cedar City, Utah. They were found dead with two Rock Falls residents, Brock Branson, 29, and 25-year-old Kenneth Ulve Junior.
Police say evidence links Sheley to all the murders. That includes vehicles, Sheley's fingerprints, and the fact that every victim died of blunt force trauma.
