St. Louis, MO – Motorists trying to pick up someone who's arriving at Lambert Airport will soon no longer have to circle the parking lots waiting for them to show up.
Airport officials say a new so-called cell phone lot is being built that will give people a place to park for free while they wait for their arriving guests. Lambert spokesman Jeff Lea says it's designed to reduce congestion and headaches at the curbside pickup area.
"You know a lot of people are familiar with this scenario, they drive up, there's a long line, there's only a five-minute waiting time, and the passengers are delayed either from the actual flight or from baggage. And then they're forced to keep going and looping around until their passenger arrives."
Lea says the 150-space parking lot will also feature a large flight information display board with the latest arrival times. They hope to open the lot between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
