St. Louis – An off-duty St. Louis police officer shot and killed a teenager early Tuesday.
Authorities say the officer saw 17-year-old Dejuan Blanchard tampering with a vehicle and confronted him.
Police are not identifying the officer, but they say he fired his weapon after Blanchard aimed a gun at him.
Blanchard died Tuesday at a local hospital from a gunshot wound to the head.
The incident happened in south St. Louis, near 38th and Osceola.
Police say the officer is on administrative duties until he is cleared to return to work.
