UAW workers in Fenton among first to vote on contract

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis, MO. – UAW workers at Chrysler's North Assembly Plant in Fenton will be among the first to vote on ratification of a four-year contract proposal with the automaker

Their vote could offer some indication of whether the deal will pass muster.

The 1,800 members of United Auto Workers Local 136 at the North plant make Dodge Ram pickup trucks. Their ratification vote is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Members of UAW Local 72 at the Kenosha, Wisconsin, engine plant, also will vote tomorrow. UAW officials hope to have votes from all North American locals tallied by Sunday.

UAW Local 110 workers at the South plant in Fenton will vote Friday.

Minivans are manufactured at the South plant, which employs about 2,900 UAW workers.
