St. Louis, MO – Teachers and employees of the Cahokia School District voted Wednesday night to go on strike next month if they can't settle a contract soon.
Employees of the southern Illinois school district say the strike will begin September 17th if the unions and school district don't agree to a contract by then.
The teachers in Cahokia have been working without a contract since May. The main issues still being discussed are salary and health insurance.
Negotiation sessions have been set for September 5th and 6th. A mediator will help both the school district and the unions try and reach an agreement.
