Washington, DC – A former top Justice Department aide says the replacement of Todd Graves as U.S. Attorney for Kansas City should not be lumped into the probe of eight other fired prosecutors.
Monica Goodling, who resigned last month as the department's White House liaison, testified Wednesday before the House Judiciary Committee under a grant of immunity from prosecution.
Goodling said she has "conflicting memories" of what happened with Graves and told the panel that she'd prefer talking about the eight prosecutors at the center of the investigation.
Lawmakers are investigating whether the prosecutors were fired for political reasons.
Graves has said he clashed with Justice Department officials over several high-profile cases and quit shortly after a senior department official asked him to leave.
