Riverview superintendant faces criminal charges

By Bill Raack, KWMU

St. Louis, MO – Embattled Riverview Gardens school superintendent Henry Williams now faces criminal charges related to financial mismanagement of the district's funds.

St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCullough today charged Williams with two counts of felony stealing and three counts of felony tax evasion. One of the charges indicates that Williams stole at least $25,000 of the district's money between 2003 and 2006.

Williams was suspended from his job with pay by the Riverview Gardens board of education this week after news of the financial improprieties came to light. He was expected to turn himself in to authorities today.
