St. Louis, MO – There will be two swearing-in ceremonies today (Monday) in Missouri and Illinois.
Missouri officially gets a new Auditor, though Susan Montee has been serving as interim auditor since Thursday. That's when Claire McCaskill resigned the seat to become a U.S. Senator.
In Illinois, Gov. Rod Blagojevich will be sworn in for a second term. He's the first Democrat to gain a second term as Illinois Governor since Otto Kerner in 1964.
In November, Blagojevich beat Republican Judy Baar Topinka by double digits - topping off a Democratic sweep of Illinois' statewide offices. But many are predicting rocky times for him in coming years.
Illinois Public Radio's Ben Calhoun prepared this report.
