Carbondale, Ill. – The Carbondale campus of Southern Illinois University is getting a new leader.
University President Glenn Poshard announced today his decision to relieve Chancellor Walter Wendler of his duties and appoint Provost John Dunn as interim chancellor effective November 15.
Provost Dunn says he's honored to accept the interim position and is ready to work on challenges ahead.
Poshard maintains the decision was not because of one specific event, but rather because he wants to take the university in a different direction.
Leaders say a search committee will be formed for a new chancellor soon, and Poshard hopes to have a new leader in place by July of 2007.
