St. Louis, MO – What was the Savvis Center is now the Scottrade Center. The new name of the sports arena home of the St. Louis Blues hockey team was announced Thursday.
Scottrade is a St. Louis-based on-line brokerage firm with more than 1,600 employees and 279 branch offices.
Blues President Dave Checketts says it was important to partner with a local company: "This is a very significant financial investment in us. We are going to return the investment for Scottrade by making sure we run a first-class facility that has all kinds of events in it, so that this name gets mentioned as many times as it can around the country."
Terms of the naming rights deal were not disclosed. Savvis Inc. paid more than $5 million last year to end its 20-year contract early.
