St. Louis – Election officials in St. Louis city say voter turnout has been lighter than expected in Tuesday's primary.
Republican election director Scott Leiendecker said at mid-day, only about a tenth of the registered voters had stopped at the polls.
"Typically, it's going to double," Leiendecker said. "So if you're going on predictions and philosophies and all that type of stuff out there, you're looking at anywhere from 20 to 22 percent."
Last week, Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan predicted 26 percent turnout statewide.
Today's primary will decide a few races ahead of the November general election.
In the city five Democrats are vying for the fourth district Missouri Senate seat. No Republicans are in that race.
And five Republicans in St. Charles and Warren counties are running for 13th district State Rep. That's a seat no Democrat wants.
