St. Louis, MO – The head of the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission plans to retire next year. Carol Moody says she'll leave March 1, her 30th anniversary with the commission.
The CVC works to bring tourism to St. Louis. It will conduct a national search to find Moody's replacement.
"It feels right to leave now when convention and leisure busines is on the upswing, downtown has a new face, and more meeting and convention planners and leisure visitors are taking notice of the new St. Louis," said Moody, in a statement.
While events like the Final Four basketball tournament earlier this year helped to bring thousands of people to St. Louis, city officials also have said they're interested in attracting more conventions to town.
"St. Louis owes Carole a huge 'thank you' for her years of service," added football Hall of Famer Dan Dierdorf. Dierdorf is also chairman of the CVC's Board of Commissioners.
