Chicago, Ill. – A jury has tentatively been chosen for former Illinois Governor George Ryan's racketeering and fraud trial.

Attorneys caution that the 12 jurors and six alternates aren't official until they're sworn in tomorrow by U-S District Judge Rebecca Pallmeyer. A few spares have been picked to be on the safe side.

The panel was selected after eight days of interviews with potential jurors.

Attorneys are preparing to deliver opening statements tomorrow.

The 71-year-old Ryan is charged with racketeering conspiracy, mail and tax fraud, and lying to federal agents. He has pleaded innocent and denies any wrongdoing.
