Jefferson City, MO. – Governor Matt Blunt is directing Missouri's Attorney General to resume the state's legal challenge to the federal government's plan to close an Air National Guard base in St. Louis and other military installations.
On September eighth, the U.S. Supreme Court and a federal appeals court both rejected appeals filed by Attorney General Jay Nixon seeking to keep the
131st Fighter Wing of the Air National Guard in St. Louis.
The Pentagon plans to move fighter jets to bases in Nevada and Montana.
Missouri officials claim it would jeopardize national security by leaving the Midwest without adequate air defenses.
