St. Louis, MO. – St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay got most of his support in last week's election from wards in south St. Louis City.
That's according to new ward-by-ward numbers from the city election board.
Slay scored about 66 percent of the vote in last week's election against Alderwoman Irene Smith and School Board member Bill Haas.
But just as in past elections his base of support in the city's south side carried him.
He got at least 75 percent of the vote in each of the 13 southern-most wards in the city, including 92 percent in the 23rd ward where his home is.
Irene J. Smith did best in her 1st ward where she had 72-percent of the vote.
She had more votes than Slay in the city's 10 northern wards, but not enough to out-do the sitting mayor in south City.
Slay now faces a much lesser-known Green Party nominee, Willie Marshall, in next month's general election.
