Washington – Congressman Ike Skelton, D-Mo., says 121 former soldiers from Missouri are being recalled to active duty for service in Iraq or Afghanistan.
Skelton said Friday the soldiers are members of the Individual Ready Reserve.
Nationwide, the Army plans to notify at least 5,600 soldiers next week that they will be involuntarily recalled and could be deployed beginning this fall.
Skelton is the senior House Armed Services Committee Democrat.
He said the mobilization shows the Bush administration misjudged how long it would take and how many U.S. troops would be needed in Iraq.
