MO Military in Combat Zones Can Vote by Fax

By AP/KWMU

Jefferson City, Mo. – Members of the military from Missouri who are serving in combat zones can vote by fax machine this year.

Secretary of State Matt Blunt issued the order Thursday.

It allows military personnel stationed in any of 59 combat zones, hostile-fire or imminent-danger areas around the world to fax their ballots back to Missouri in the August and November elections.

Service-men and -women can still use the traditional method of mailing ballots to local election authorities.

But Blunt suggests they use the fax, and send the ballot several times to make sure there's no problem with anyone's machinery.

Absentee ballots still have to be received on election day by 7 p.m., when the polls close.
