Game Makers Sue 321 Studios

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis – There's more legal trouble for a suburban St. Louis company that makes software for copying DVDs and computer games.

Three makers of video games have sued 321 Studios of St. Charles over its Games X Copy software.

The federal suit, filed in New York by Atari, Electronic Arts and Vivendi Universal Games, says that the product violates copyright law.

At Hollywood's urging, federal judges in New York and California have barred the company from marketing its DVD-copying software.

All the lawsuits say Three-Two-One violated federal law barring circumvention of anti-piracy measures used to protect DVDs and other technology.

Three-Two-One argues it merely provides consumers with a legal means to make backup copies of their investments in DVDs and computer games.
