Chicago, ILl. – A one-time top aide to former Illinois Governor George Ryan wants to end his probation early.
Dean Bauer was convicted in the licenses for bribes scandal. But his lawyer says Bauer must constantly ask permission of courts to travel between Chicago and Kankakee to see doctors who are treating him for cancer.
Bauer was inspector general in the secretary of state's office under George Ryan.
He pleaded guilty three years ago to obstructing justice and was
sentenced a year in prison and two years' probation.
