St. Louis County Councilman Ernie Trakas is uninjured after a shooting on Interstate 64.
5 On Your Side first reported that Trakas’ car was shot at while driving on a stretch of the highway in Frontenac.
In a tweet Friday afternoon, Trakas thanked everyone who reached out to make sure he wasn’t hurt.
“Today reminded me that violence impacts everyone in our region,” the tweet read, in part.
He added that the Frontenac Police Department is investigating. Frontenac Police did not immediately respond to a request for comment early Friday evening.
Today reminded me that violence impacts everyone in our region. I appreciate all those who reached out today to make sure I was not injured. I also want to thank the Frontenac PD, who will be investigating. Out of respect for that investigation, that's all I will say for now.

Trakas, a Republican, represents south St. Louis County on the council. St. Louis County Executive Sam Page also tweeted about the shooting, saying he spoke with Trakas.
“We’re all grateful he was not injured,” Page tweeted. “My thoughts will remain on Ernie and his family this weekend.”
This is a developing story.
