St. Louis – St. Louis County officials have filed a lawsuit alleging a former councilman tampered with a web site, and posted a false message that claims an annual fireworks display has been canceled.
The suit seeks a temporary restraining order. A hearing in the case is scheduled for Thursday morning in St. Louis County Circuit Court.
A Web site called jbblast.com claims the fireworks at the Jefferson Barracks Park are canceled this year. However, the July 3 celebration is expected to take place as planned.
The suit accuses John Campisi, who was defeated for re-election last fall, of posting the message on the site.
There was no immediate response to an e-mail message that the Associated Press sent last night to an address listed on the Web site.
