St. Louis – The state coordinator for mutual aid said power restoration in southern Missouri is slow-going because the storm that struck the region destroyed the infrastructure.
Mike Conyers said it may be another week before crews from an out-of-state power association arrive to rebuild transmission lines, and the work could take as long as 45 days.
About 26,000 homes and businesses in the region still are without power, but in some counties, shelter operations are winding down and schools are reopening.
