Ferguson, MO – Classes were called off Tuesday at Riverview Gardens High School in north St. Louis County after two days of student protests over the reassignment of principal Marshall Peeples.
Dozens of students stayed out of classes Tuesday morning. The district eventually called off classes and sent students home at 11:30.
Earlier this month, prosecutors filed criminal charges of theft and tax evasion against superintendent Henry Williams.
Interim superintendents decided to remove Peeples as high school principal. They reassigned Peeples to a job at district headquarters.
Officials are not saying why Peeples was removed.
Classes are expected to resume Wednesday.
