Columbia, Mo. – Governor Blunt's plane made an emergency landing Friday in Columbia after pilots couldn't determine if the landing gear was working.
The plane landed safely in Columbia about 12:30 p.m., and no one was hurt.
Blunt had stops scheduled in St. Joseph, Kirksville, Hannibal and Cape Girardeau. But as the plane prepared to land in Kirksville, the instrument panel indicated the landing gear wasn't properly locked and down.
Blunt spokeswoman Jessica Robinson was on the plane with the governor. She says the plane was diverted to Columbia, where it did a fly-by of the control tower and crew there determined the gear was in the right position for landing.
The governor canceled visits to Kirksville and Hannibal but still planned to make the Cape Girardeau stop, but on a different plane.
