St. Louis, MO – Striking beer truck drivers in St. Louis have been fired by their employer, Lohr Distributing. That comes more than four months into their strike.
The distributor sent a letter to the union and about 40 striking drivers, informing them their temporary replacements have been made into permanent replacements. But Lohr also said it will keep bargaining with the union.
And the workers aren't necessarily out of a job because any new contract deal might include the company re-hiring them.
The president of Teamsters Local 600, Dan McKay, says he was not surprised by the letters, claiming the company is trying to get rid of its long-time employees.
The strike only affects delivery of Anheuser-Busch products to bar, restaurants, and stores in St. Louis City.
