St. Louis, MO – Members of a Polish parish in St. Louis say a Vatican archbishop is intervening to help settle their dispute with the archdiocese.
They say they received a letter from Archbishop Szczepan Wesoly, written in Polish, asking for a mediator in the battle over control of the finances of St. Stanislaus Kostka.
Last month, St. Louis Archbishop Raymond Burke issued an interdict against the parish's six-member board, denying them Communion and other Roman Catholic sacraments. In August, Burke removed the parish's two priests and forbade Masses, though the parish continues to hold prayer services.
