The longest session of the Illinois General Assembly is now over.
Lawmakers this weekend approved a $45 billion budget for a fiscal year that started almost a month ago.
Democrats control the state House, Senate, and Governor's office.
But political infighting among themselves resulted in an impasse that left lawmakers in an overtime session for nearly two months.
Illinois Public Radio's Bill Wheelhouse prepared this reports on the new budget and some of the political fallout.
