St. Louis, MO – Plans to close the Hazelwood Ford plant are on hold. That's according to the Detroit Free Press and the Detroit News, which both report officials want time to review a tax incentive plan that Missouri lawmakers passed earlier this year.
Ford had said the 2,500 worker factory would close by mid-decade. That had officials around Missouri scrambling to try to change the company's mind. Gov. Bob Holden appointed a special task force to look into ways to keep operations in Hazelwood. Workers make SUV's at the plant.
