Marthasville, Mo. – The small Warren County town of Marthasville is looking for a mayor. No one ran for the position in last week's election; the person who go the most write-in votes says he's not sure he wants the job.
The current mayor Clifford Byrd says he didn't run for post again because the Board of Aldermen refused to raise the $800 annual pay.
Voters on Tuesday elected former Mayor David Lange. But Lange doesn't know yet if he'll accept the part-time post. He says last time he was mayor it was hard to get things done.
Lange won the election with 13 write-in votes. Marthasville is a town of about a thousand residents located in Warren County, northwest of St. Louis.
