Jefferson City, Mo. – Missouri's tax revenues were a little better this past month; but the improvement isn't enough to reduce the projected budget shortfall.
The Department of Revenue says individual income tax revenues were nearly 3.4% higher than in February, 2002. Still, over the first eight months of the fiscal year, net general revenues remain nearly 4% below the previous year.
The shortfall is being covered through spending cuts and, possibly, through the issuance of state revenue bonds.
