Washington, DC – Former Missouri Senator Jean Carnahan set a record by raising more than $12 million in this year's campaign.
That's almost four million dollars more than the race's winner, Republican Jim Talent. The figures are from new reports from the Federal Election Commission.
PROPOSITION A FUNDRAISING
Another example that the winning candidate does not always win was in this fall's proposition A. The side that won in a tobacco tax proposition last month was outspent 40-1.
New reports from the state show supporters of the tax increase raised nearly $6 million; two opposing groups raised but $130,000.
