Worldwide Day of Botanical Art

Worldwide Day of Botanical Art
Join the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA) and the Foundry Art Centre for an international day of celebration of botanical art and its unique power to educate, promote ecological awareness, and enrich lives. The day will include artist demonstrations, activities for families, heirloom seed sales, and speakers’ presentations regarding different facets of crop diversity.
The Worldwide Day of Botanical Art is being held in over 30 counties with events and programs related to botanical art, and in the US is presented in conjunction with the Foundry Art Centre’s current exhibition, A More Abundant Future. This exhibition is part of a project seeking to call attention to the subject of sustainability in our important food and utilitarian crops.
Speakers include ASBA executive director Jody Williams and exhibitions director Carol Woodin, Briana Smorstad, Seed Bank Manager of Seed Savers Exchange; Weston Adams, Head Plant Breeder of Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds; and Colin Khoury, a scientist in food plant research.
Explore vendor booths offering heirloom vegetables and plant-themed arts and crafts. Free art activities will be available for all ages, and the Foundry bar will offer refreshments.
This event is free and open to the public.
