"Songs of the Season"
"Songs of the Season"
Two bells ringing a perfect fifth opens Allegro Chorus’ 2025 Holiday concert, Songs of the Season, on Saturday and Sunday, December 6th & 7th. In unison, Allegro’s soprano and alto sections echo that perfect fifth, gradually swelling their voices to a full chord that floats as if suspended in the beautiful sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood. This ethereal opening sets the stage for the dynamic and rhythmic number, “Ring Out, Ye Bells” arranged by Dan Forrest, sung by Allegro’s 120-voice choir and accompanied by First Presbyterian Church’s 3-Octave handbell choir.
Allegro Chorus is pleased to have First Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood’s Carillon Ringers, directed by Dr. Bill Wade, as special guests for their concert, Songs of the Season, celebrating Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa and the coming of the winter season. In addition to the handbell choir, Allegro Chorus, directed by Merry Keller, is accompanied by Ron Bryant, on piano and an orchestra of St. Louis’ finest string players. Audience members will delight in familiar carols and be moved by the beauty of music that celebrates the true meaning of the coming season.
