Presentation: Treating PTSD with MDMA assisted psychotherapy: Psychedelic Catalyzation of Therapeutic Process
We’re honored to welcome Bruce Sewick, LCPC, CADC—longtime educator, clinician, and advocate for psychedelic healing—for a compelling talk.
Bruce’s journey into mental health began with his exploration of altered states of consciousness in the 1970s, earning a degree in psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1974. After a two-decade career in the transportation industry, Bruce returned to his passion, earning a master’s in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University with a thesis on psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy for the terminally ill.
In this talk, Bruce will:
📘 Describe the structure and process of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD
🔬 Explore the mechanisms of action that make MDMA a unique therapeutic catalyst
🧠 Offer insight into how psychedelics can transform traditional therapeutic models
Bruce recently retired as CEO of Leyden Family Service and the SHARE Program after 26 years in behavioral health. He continues to teach and coordinate peer support initiatives at the College of DuPage, where he offers a course called Psychedelic Mindview and has lectured on psychedelics for over 25 years.
This is a rare opportunity to learn from someone who bridges clinical expertise, lived experience, and decades of advocacy in the psychedelic field.
For more information about Bruce’s work, feel free to read Bruce Sewick’s thesis, hosted on MAPS’ website!
