"American Tapestry of Song"

"American Tapestry of Song"

Like a beautiful tapestry, America has a rich, colorful heritage of music that reflects the diversity of our people. The history of music in the United States includes many styles of folk, popular and classical music. Some of the best-known genres of American music are rhythm and blues, jazz, gospel, spirituals, country, rock and roll, and pop, to name a few.

Allegro's Spring Concert, "American Tapestry of Song" celebrates this amazing diversity, with a program of music that reflects the impressive variety of backgrounds and experiences of our American people.

The Legend Singers of St. Louis are special guests of Allegro Chorus for “American Tapestry of Song”. The ensemble of 25 singers will perform two spirituals from their repertoire and then will join Allegro Chorus for the final two numbers in the concert: Like a Mighty Stream and Lean On Me/We Shall Overcome. We are delighted to share this event with The St. Louis Legend Singers, whose singing will add depth to our concert, helping us celebrate the richness, diversity and history of our American music.
