High Fives: Johnny Buse

This article first appeared in the St. Louis Beacon, May 1, 2013 - For the Beacon's fifth birthday, we've asked people to share five favorite things from over the years.

  1. The BeyondNovember coverage was awesome. Being able to read a Beacon article on the primaries, while my tweetdeck had #BeyondNovember popping up all over the place and Jason Rosenbaum's voice was lilting in over the radio: synthesis! Or the singularity. Not sure which.

  2. I was very happy with how all of the Kresge work turned out (or is turning out) and the scope of the project, especially the slow-burn nature of it and the ability to combine articles with video work from Jarred Gastreich

  3. I have the Beacon Snapshot hanging on the wall of my 'office' (read: bedroom). A beautiful collection of stats, figures and aesthetic-pleasures

  4. I never really thought too deeply about flooding and droughts until I started reading all of the "flooding" and "drought" tagged stories, which are captivating as a collection.

  5. This Is Bill, He Has Diabetes is what made me want to work for the Beacon.Johnny Buse special to the Beacon
