NPR Coverage of Developments in Egypt

(via NPR.org)

For the latest developments in Egypt, here is NPR's coverage.

NPR's "The Two Way" also has a live blog of the coverage, which you can see here.

Russ Carnahan has  issued a statement about Mubarak's resignation, and we also have comment from Ill. U.S. Senator Dick Durbin:

From WUIS Reporter Luke Runyon:

Illinois senior U.S. Senator Dick Durbin says there are concerns about stability in the Middle East in the wake of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's departure. Despite that, he says this was a remarkable day for the Egyptian people.

"Now they have a chance to put together a representative government," Durbin said, "I know, and we all know that the democratic process isn't smooth and flawless. We hope that it ends well, with a real election. We certainly hope the new government will be friendly to the United States and work to keep this world peaceful."

Durbin says the United States needs to have a tempered response to Mubarak's decision to resign. The Democrat says any U.S. pressure to influence the outcome of an eventual election would hurt foreign relations with the country. Durbin is Assistant Majority Leader of the Senate.

We will update with more reactions and information as it becomes available.
