JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon has collected more than $200,000 in campaign donations in the past week.
State campaign finance reports show that Nixon's campaign received donations from businesses, labor unions and a law firm.
Roughly two-thirds, or $150,000, came from three labor unions. A union for plumbers and pipefitters and one for ironworkers each donated $25,000. Auto workers gave $100,000. Missouri law requires campaign donations of more than $5,000 to be reported within 48 hours.
Last week, Nixon endorsed a plan to let utilities bill customers sooner for the cost of early site permits for power plants. It is designed to help build a second nuclear plant and create jobs.
This summer, Nixon called a special legislative session to approve state tax incentives aimed at Ford Motor Co.
