Teens back in custody after escape from juvenile center

By AP/St. Louis Public Radio

St. Charles, Mo. – Three teenagers are back in custody, but one had to be rescued from a small island in the Missouri River, after an escape from a detention center.

The three escaped from the St. Charles County Juvenile Justice Center last night.

Drivers spotted two of them near Interstate 70 asking for a ride. One went into the Missouri River and had to be rescued from an island.

Investigators say the teens scaled a 25-foot fence topped with razor wire.
