St. Louis – Thousands of Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts spent about two hours Sunday putting American flags on the graves of more than 170,000 soldiers at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
Tim Deposki, 16, is an Eagle Scout. He's been taking part in the event since he was in first grade. Deposki said reading the name on each headstone gave him a personal connection to the soldiers.
"It's just neat to see the history behind it and see how many people have actually fought for this country," Deposki said. "It makes you feel great to be a part of it."
Jefferson Barracks has been a national cemetery since 1866.
