St. Louis – The St. Louis public school district has reported its first confirmed case of H1N1 swine flu, but officials said the student is recovering and is expected to return to class next week.
The city Health Department said there's no need to close schools. The district said Thursday that officials became aware of the case Wednesday. The student became ill with flu-like symptoms last week.
Officials are not releasing the student's name or age.
State health officials have confirmed 24 cases of swine flu in Missouri. That figure includes a St. Louis County man who died Tuesday.
